Anxiety panic attacks
You start to feel your heart rate beating faster. Then you feel something holding in your neck and can not breathe. Soon the palms start sweating and feel your legs shaking. The first think in your mind is that you may have a heart attack. Or that your are going “crazy”.
These are the symptoms of someone having anxiety panic attacks. Sound familiar to you? The good news is that you are not having a heart attack. The bad news is that these panic attacks are mentally challenging for you and your confidence. Repeated panic and anxiety is called panic disorder. What causes panic anxiety attacks?
Anxiety and panic fears can be triggered by many things. It can be something happened in the past, a trauma which was not addressed properly. It can be caused by a personality with depressive tendencies. Or, it can be a result of a simple lack of confidence in yourself and your ability to manage your life. Many who have these symptoms develop panic attacks and, without addressing properly the root cause, it can become worse and develop all kinds of phobia.
Fear of going outside your house, called agoraphobia, fear of driving, fear of open or closed spaces, fear of public speaking, fear of exams,etc. are just a short examples of such phobias. As you can see these can easily disturb your life and you abilities to succeed.
Understanding anxiety panic attacks is a primary way to deal with them. Many persons resort on taking anti-anxiety medications. Even if they do help on the short term to stop the panic symptoms, they have serious side-effects to your health. So, a reconsidering of these is a must. The common side-effects of these medications are weight gain, addiction to the drugs, sexual dysfunction or indigestion problems. An alternative solution to them would be the following of therapy where the subject learn how to have a new thinking or re-work their mind and boost their self-esteem if that causes the panic disorder.
The common therapies are the cognitive behavior therapy and exposure therapy. However, they should be tried with the help of an expert in overcoming the anxiety and panic attacks.
